In response to the request of many mothers in Al Ashrafiyeh area, we held an awareness session about violence in schools at the Community Development Center in Barto Street in Ashrafiyeh that is part of the Jordan Red Crescent Society. The lecture which was given in cooperation with the Family Protection Unit that is part of the Jordan National Security included an explanation of all types of violence in general and how the unit deals with the cases that they are faced with. Following that, a more specific discussion proceeded about violence in schools and the types of violence that take place both from the student themselves and the teachers, the reasons behind violence in schools, in addition to how to avoid and overcome violence. The discussion proceeded with the importance of the parents' role in observing the behaviors of their children as well as their intervention in the school. The lecture that was attended by a good number of mothers as well as guests from the Yarmouk Municipality was very interactive whereas the mothers put forward many related topics and asked several different questions.     
 
11/3/2009 Awareness session on vitamin B12 in Sahab
Many wrong beliefs among Jordanian citizens prevail about the deficiency of B12 and many individuals diagnose themselves with this deficiency without consulting a physician. For these reasons, we took on the responsibility of educating the general public on this vitamin and its deficiency. Dr. Arwa from Pharmacy1 Drug and information center met with many women at the Princess Basma Community Development Center in Sahab to talk about the wrong beliefs concerning this vitamin the symptoms of deficiency, the cures, and the healthy nutrition. The attendees asked many questions and talked to Dr. Arwa about their concerns regarding their life styles and their nutrition.
10/3/2009 Awareness day at Um Habeeba School in Wadi Sir

A day was dedicated to raise awareness on several issues to young female students from ranging from 3rd to 6th grade at Um Habeeba School in Wadi Al Sir area. This day was organized as part of the project "Citizen in my City" with the cooperation of Amman Municipality and the Family Protection Unit. Several subjects were discussed with the students in an open dialogue style to give them the chance and freedom to ask any questions and start a debate. The subjects included environmental issues as well as domestic violence and harassment. We also played a couple of interactive educational games with the girls. The day was very successful as the girls added to their general information and interacted effectively with each other as well as with their teachers and administration.
